When we embarked on this journey thirty-five years ago, we envisioned crafting a product for everyday use-something often overlooked by many. These metal pieces, shaped by hands that inevitably get a little dirty, serve as a conduit for a clean and enduring, albeit indirect, handshake. Even if not physically passes from hand to hand, they orchestrate a meeting of hands in a single motion. It might only be after touching them that you realize were created in pairs. This exchange is rendered incomplete without the other, a profound symbiosis. Our work reflects this concealed interchange, guiding our approach. Our endeavor is molded by resilience and elegance, fueled by passion and touch of panache. Yet, the genuine driving force behind our enduring commitment to this craft lies in the essential barter, where one cannot convey meaning without the other. In 1989, our mission was plain and simple: to cover a necessity. At that time, Türkiye’s production journey was in its early stages. We were so focused on providing for needs that wants were often overlooked. This mindset was part of the cultural fabric of our young and delicate nation. We were no different from the others; standing apart was not the goal. The ship was newly reconstructed, and daily maintenance took precedence over luxurious design expectations. We did our part, as did many who got their hands dirty. As we crossed into the new millennium, groundbreaking developments reshaped the industrial landscape. By the end of 2010, Türkiye reached $120 billion annually in exports, multiplying the 2001 figure by six.

This monumental shift demanded our adaptation. Needs became routine, and wants began to influence our direction. The last decade has been our journey to identify our business not just as another player among similar counterparts contributing to a common goal, but as one that stands apart, having formed its own unique perspective. This perspective finds life in our understanding of what “Care Apart” means. Unlocking exceptional opportunities was possible only by embracing this core principle. “No more covers” symbolizes our effort to distinguish ourselves in this endeavor.

 

In 1988, the year before our founders started this company, the inflation rate in the UK had just risen above 6%, the highest in six years, and interest rates were high and rising. However, the subsequent 35 years have been marked by a different trend. Instead of accelerating inflation, this period has been characterized by great disinflation, with inflation steadily falling year after year. This trend is significant because it has had important consequences for markets, leading to significant returns from both equity and bond markets and providing opportunities for developing countries like Turkey to thrive. On the other hand, the arrival of China has had consequences not just for international trade and investment but also for inflation, growth, inequality, and politics in the rest of the world. Alongside geopolitical tensions, events such as the September 11 attacks, the 2008 financial crisis, the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, and the Covid-19 pandemic have made for a tumultuous ride. However, our company has stood up to these challenges and built serious strengths over the years.

I am immensely proud to mark our 35th anniversary. As we celebrate this milestone, I want to express my gratitude to our employees, customers, and partners who have been instrumental in our success.
